If you really like to see your blog grow high in visitors and popularity, then you need to use social media fuel to power your engines. There are so many options available today, which can get your blog the required traffic. With so many social networks available, it might just be a little confusion as to how many should you use.  Let’s take any one of the most widely used social media tool like twitter to see how we can achieve our goal. So, this post is totally dedicated to twitter and its use to support our blog’s popularity.

You must have noticed that every new product or service that arrives in the market is tweeted within minutes of its launch. Why? Well, you might have under estimated the power of twitter. Although your tweet is limited to 140 characters, its power is still unlimited. Let’s take a walk through some of these interesting points that powers twitter in your blog’s favor.

1.       First and foremost is the content that you are going to tweet. It really should be an eye-candy. One of the ways to bring tweets would be to ask your fan base to provide input on what you are doing. For example, conducting a research on a topic can let people throw-in their views. And so, when you use their approach and tweet about it, you are auto generating popularity.

2.       If someone is giving you idea, you can return the favor in many ways by unleashing your views to what others think. By doing this you are not only giving valuable comments, but are indirectly increasing your fan following which is again going to help you THINK of another interesting topic for discussion. There can be 2 things happening, one you might gain responses on your blog posts and second, you might just be able to sell some ads (Adsense).

3.       If you are launching a new service, then you can draw more users by running a twitter competition. Well it can be anything; mostly you would give away some freebies to the winner after they have been through your questions. Here is the catch; if you declare a winner after a week of the competition then you might be just a little too late. It’s an era of speed and people want to see results every day. So, pick a winner and declare it the very same day. This way you can have more opportunities to attract more walk-ins followers.

4.       One final thing you can do is, base all the marketing as a launch event. It can be for your own product or something that has happened in your neighborhood. Festive discussions are most popular ones nearing an area that attracts more tweets.

You must understand the kind of base you have, as it really matter for the success of anything you do. If you are in education field and have more crappy followers, then anything you try to educate will be a failure. Similarly, you should accept followers wisely.

There is a new buzz in the town as it’s called the sponsored tweets. As we all know twitter is a widely used website for social networking than Facebook or any other media for that matter. Internet marketing has taken a swift turn from the traditional practices towards tweeting with twitter. You can stay connected with your friends at the same time perform the un-imaginable marketing of products or services or even review and recommend websites to your twitter followers. Couple of things to watch for when joining sponsored tweets community to make money from incoming orders.

1.       Do not expect twitter user to come to you and place an order if you’re just as new as they are. There is a common assumption in the town which says ‘stay away from noobs’. It more or less is a slap on you face saying you’re just another spammer/scammer. Your application to join the sponsor tweets community will be denied because you’re just another new guy in the town.

2.       No matter if there is a custom background, but if you apply without a complete user profile especially your avatar photo, you’re not passing on.

3.       Add ‘Sponsored tweets’ link as a legit advertiser on your advertise page just so you give them the benefit of in-direct promotion of their service on twitter in case you’re not yet part of the community.

4.       You should probably integrate some popular tracking tool to give the buyers the benefit of doubt by showing them the snapshots of twitter account’s traffic details. This is the best piece which can get you more orders as majority of buyers will convert on proofs.

5.       In order to protect your advertiser’s investment in the Sponsored Tweets marketplace, you can use a sophisticated program like ClickWatch which provides details on the click performance. It’s a great tool to measure your operational CPC (cost per click) campaigns. A new tweet is posted each time the CPC for a tweet is found to be above $1.5 giving users the upper hand on controlling cost. This tool is available in the control panel of the Sponsored Tweets and can be enabled or disabled accordingly. Advertisers prefer this tool be enabled when placing an order.

6.       Just in case you thought you paid a higher price for your tweets, you can check the latest rates in the marketplace itself before negotiating it any further. This competitive analysis is public and can be viewed by someone who is not an advertiser. Not only it gives a real feel of the competition amongst the advertiser’s it also gives an idea as to what should be charged for this type of work for noobs.

7.       A fan follower base also determines the amount of order you will be receiving. Since there are many auto-tweet and auto-follow programs available, most buyers would like to see your friend to follower ratio. The more the followers, the better it is because that’s what the buyers would like to bet on.

Johntp has written a great post comparing the Blog earnings of some of the great Bloggers who dared to reveal their monthly income.

Money Making from a Blog is the most interesting topic that I can think of. One of my favorite Bloggers, who has made money online with a Blog is John Chow. The thing which I like about him the most is that he reveals his monthly income that he makes from his Blog.

John Chow’s blog was started on September 2006. He made a whooping $352.92 with Google Adsense in his first month after monetizing his Blog and just a year later his monthly earnings had touched $27,240.83 which is quite a progressive development :-) . John kept adding more n more money making sources which helped him to increase his monthly revenue.

Today I’ll compare the earnings of 2 bloggers (John Chow, and Everton) who revealed their monthly revenues:

Page Views and Traffic

  • Thilak: 232,120 page impressions/views
  • Everton: 220K unique visitors and 452000 page impressions/views
  • John Chow: 127,614 unique visits and 266,641 page impressions/views

Earnings Comparison of December 2007

  • AdSense $977.60 (John Chow), $2,498 (Everton)
  • Text Link Ads $2,097.74 (John Chow), $1,709 (Everton)
  • FeedBurner Ads $99.80 (John Chow), $81 (Everton)
  • Direct Ad Sales $400.00 (John Chow), $360 (Everton)
  • Subscription $40.00 (John Chow)
  • ReviewMe $5,400.00 (John Chow), $280 (Everton)
  • IntelliTXT $516.98 (John Chow)
  • Kontera $1,000.00 (John Chow)
  • Linkworth $168 (Everton)
  • Sponsored Reviews $163 (Everton)
  • Affiliate Sales $5,701.48 (John Chow)
  • AdVolcano $375.00 (John Chow)
  • TTZ Media $321.14 (John Chow)
  • Pirvate Ad Sales $10,480.00 (John Chow)
  • TribalFusion $1,333 (Everton)
  • TNX $0 (Everton)
  • Grand Total $25,040.36 (John Chow), $8,192 (Everton)

Total Blog Income for 2007: $180,305.94 (John Chow)

Total Blog Income for 2007: $103,240 (Everton)

Conclusion:

With this we can conclude that Google Adsense is not the only way to Make Money Online, but still it is by far the best earning program for a blog at an initial stage. Gradually as your traffic increases keep adding more and more online money making sources and programs, this will help you to keep your revenue constantly growing.

This shows that we should never put all our eggs in one basket and Google Adsense is not the end of everything. If these Bloggers can earn a six figure income online, why cant you? :-) )
